Kashmir Unrest: CBSE NET 2016 Exam Postponed

Amidst the unrest in Kashmir over the row against killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani in an encounter, the CBSE NET 2016 exam has been postponed. The CBSE NET 2016 examination was scheduled to be held on July 10, 2016.

 

The exam has been postponed immediately after the news of Burhan's death spread and pro-Pakistan slogans were heard in Srinagar with people coming out on the roads and burning tyres.

According to the official notice at www.cbsenet.nic.in, ''All the candidates appearing in UGC - NET scheduled to be held on July 10, 2016 at Srinagar City (J&K) are informed that due to unavoidable circumstances this examination is postponed. The next date of examination of UGC - NET for Srinagar City (J&K) will be informed in due course of time.''

The National Eligibility Test will be held by CBSE on behalf of the UGC on July 10, 2016.

NET is conducted for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor both in Indian universities and colleges. It will be held in 83 subjects at 89 selected NET examination cities spread across the country.
