Karnataka To Begin Next Academic Year From July 15

Karnataka government has announced that it is planning to begin the next academic year for schools from July 15. The government is also deciding on whether to include Bhagwad Gita in the school curriculum or not.

The Karnataka government has announced that the next academic year for schools will begin from 15 July 2021 keeping rising cases of Covid-19 in mind.

"Keeping in mind the Covid situation in mind, we are planning to start the next academic year for schools from July 15," said the Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar.

As per the report by Premji University, children are lagging in mathematics in the absence of regular offline classes. Referring to this report, S Suresh clarified that the state has the obligation to deal with their health and education.

The government is also deciding on whether the Bhagwad Gita should be included in the school curriculum or not, as requested from certain quarters.

Meanwhile, 35,886 Covid-19 cases had been reported in the country as of March 17, 2021, and many states are still in dilemma over the opening of schools and academic sessions. Maharashtra continues to be the most affected state with 23,179 coronavirus cases. Karnataka has reported 1275 cases as of 17 March 2021 which is the highest since December 9, 2020.
