The Government of Karnataka is all set to reopen the degree and engineering colleges from November 17. The government has decided to reopen the engineering, diploma and degree colleges that were shut due to the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Unlock 5.0 Guidelines For Schools And Colleges, Attendance Not Mandatory
Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka Ashwathnarayan C.N. has informed that the state government is putting its best foot forward to reopen the colleges keeping in mind the safety of the students and teachers amid pandemic. He said that the decision to reopen the colleges in Karnataka was taken under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister.
As per the sources, students who want to physically attend colleges should have consent from their parents. The government will be releasing the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) regarding the strength in the class, how the classes have to be held, how many batches, etc. Mr Ashwathnarayan also revealed that all the safety measures will be taken for students who will be staying at SC/ST, Social Welfare and OBC hostels.

Earlier, Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has released the Unlock 5.0 guidelines for phased re-opening of schools and colleges. The Centre has given complete authority to States or Union Terrorities to decide on reopening of schools and coaching institutions. It also announced that the re-opening of schools can be done in a graded manner. However, attendance must not be enforced in schools and colleges.
