The initiative seeks to bridge the disconnect between educational training and industry expectations. Union Minister Pradhan praised the meticulous work of the World Bank team, advocating for the expansion of this project to a pan-India scale. The launch event brought together influential leaders, including Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, and Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, alongside World Bank representatives and school principals.

The report is part of the STARS (Strengthening Teaching-Learning and Results for States) program and focuses on six states: Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Rajasthan. It emphasizes integrating skill-based education in grades 9-12, ensuring students are equipped with practical skills tailored to their local industry needs.

Minister Pradhan underscored the need to redefine jobs and employment to include broader economic opportunities, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He highlighted the importance of equipping students with industry-relevant skills early on to fuel India's role in the global economy.

Sanjay Kumar echoed these views, emphasizing that the NEP 2020 encourages students to practice and master skills, fostering perseverance and adaptability. This skill-driven approach, supported by the STARS program, lays a robust foundation for states to implement effective educational reforms. The Jobs at Your Doorstep report advocates embedding skill-based learning into the curriculum as a strategic move to prepare students for the future workforce. By aligning education with district-specific industry demands, the initiative empowers students to navigate the job market confidently and competently.

The initiative represents a collaborative effort between the government and international organizations like the World Bank. By focusing on grassroots-level changes, the report sets a precedent for nationwide implementation, equipping India's youth with the skills and knowledge to thrive in an ever-evolving job landscape.
