Jharkhand to implement teaching hours in schools

Ranchi, Oct 9: As per the guidelines under the Right to Education, the Jharkhand government will implement teaching hours and varying working days in government schools from Class I to VIII from November 1.

Under the guidelines, there would be 45 teaching hours per week for teachers, according to a notification issued by the HRD.

Reacting to the notification, All Jharkhand Primary Teachers Association General Secretary Rammurti Thakur has said the existing period is 33-hour teaching time per week and 253 working days per year.

The extra one hour and 20 minutes per day from November 1 should not be made compulsory for teachers as the extra time is for preparation for teachers, which could be used anywhere----school or at home, Thakur said.
