The JEE Main 2024 syllabus has been cut down by NTA. Some topics have been removed from all sections including Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Additionally, new topics have been added to the Physics section, while there are no new topics in the syllabus for Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates getting ready for the Joint Entrance Examination can review the reduced syllabus of JEE Main.

JEE Main Updated Syllabus and Exam Pattern
This year, the syllabus of JEE Main has been condensed, considering the reduced syllabus of the CBSE and other state boards due to the pandemic. As per the new format, the question paper will consist of two sections in every subject- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Section A will contain Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) while section B will include questions that are numerical value-based. Out of the ten questions in section B, candidates can choose to attempt only five. With the addition of section B, the total number of questions in the paper has increased, but the number of questions to be attempted remains the same.
Changes in the Question Paper
In the previous pattern, each subject had 25 questions (20 MCQs and 5 questions with numerical value as answers). In contrast, the new pattern comprises of 30 questions (20 MCQs and 10 numerical questions), out of which only 25 need to be answered. This gives candidates the freedom to choose questions according to their convenience. However, there is a cautionary note- Negative marking will be applicable in Section A but not for the questions in Section B.
Students need to stay informed about syllabus updates and familiarize themselves with the changes. The NTA has recently released the JEE Main 2024 examination syllabus, which has undergone significant reductions with the removal of several units.
