JEE Main 2026: April 5 Exam Rescheduling Approved, What Students Should Know

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 Session 2 has undergone a key update, with the April 5 exam date now approved for rescheduling for affected candidates. The decision comes after concerns over the exam coinciding with Easter Sunday, a major religious observance.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will continue to conduct the April session within the overall exam window from April 2 to April 9, 2026, and only the April 5 shift will be adjusted where required.

What Has Changed

  • The April 5, 2026 exam is not cancelled, but rescheduling has been approved
  • Only affected candidates (due to the Easter clash) can request a change
  • The rest of the exam schedule remains unchanged

The move was approved by the Union Government after representations from students and community groups regarding the date clash.

JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Schedule

As per the current schedule, JEE Main 2026 Session 2 exams are being conducted on:

  • April 2, 4, 5, 6, and 8 (B.E./B.Tech)
  • April 7 (B.Arch/B.Planning)

The exam continues to be held in computer-based mode (CBT) across multiple shifts.

How Rescheduling Works

Candidates who are unable to appear on April 5 can:

  • Submit a request through the official NTA portal
  • Receive a new exam date within the same session window
  • Download an updated admit card with revised details

The rescheduling facility is limited and subject to approval by the authorities.

Admit Card & City Slip Updates

  • City intimation slips have already been released
  • Admit cards are expected to be issued shortly before exam dates

Candidates must check their updated exam date, shift timing, and centre details carefully once the revised admit card is released.

Why This Matters

The rescheduling of the April 5 exam ensures greater inclusivity and flexibility for candidates facing religious or personal constraints. At the same time, it maintains the integrity of the overall examination schedule.

Aspirants are advised to regularly check the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in for updates and ensure they download the latest admit card before the exam.
