Indian Overseas Bank’s state-specific Local Bank Officer drive ends tomorrow, August 24, 2026. The bank will recruit 250 JMGS-I officers: Tamil Nadu 100, Karnataka 50, Maharashtra 50, Gujarat 50. Graduates may apply; local language proficiency is compulsory. Selected officers serve within their applied state. Submit the IBPS application before the window closes.
IOB’s notification, dated August 7, 2026, sets a clear path. Selection comprises online exam, Language Proficiency Test and interview. Candidates who studied the state language in Class 10 or 12 skip LPT. Others must qualify before interview. The bank says initial posting stays within the chosen state for twelve years, or until promotion to SMGS‑IV.

State-wise competition will be intense, especially for unreserved seats. The matrix lists 94 unreserved, 80 Other Backward Classes, 36 Scheduled Castes, 18 Scheduled Tribes and 22 Economically Weaker Sections. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities have horizontal slots. You must apply for only one state; merit lists are prepared state wise and category wise.
| State | Vacancies |
|---|---|
| Tamil Nadu | 100 |
| Karnataka | 50 |
| Maharashtra | 50 |
| Gujarat | 50 |
| Total | 250 |
Eligibility is straightforward for graduates. Age must be 20 to 30 years as on August 1, 2026. A recognised degree is mandatory on the registration date. Proficiency in the applied state’s language is essential. Studying it in school exempts LPT; otherwise, qualifying the LPT is compulsory.
The online exam covers reasoning with computer aptitude, banking awareness, data analysis and English. Minimum qualifying aggregates are 35 percent for unreserved, and 30 percent for reserved. Interviews carry 100 marks. Final merit uses an 80:20 exam to interview weightage, prepared state wise and category wise.
Registration and fee payment are open until August 24, 2026, on the IBPS page. The page mentions the closing date but not a specific time. Plan to finish by evening to avoid traffic spikes. Fees are 850 rupees for General, OBC, EWS; 175 rupees for SC, ST, PwBD.
Scan a recent photo, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration as specified. Keep a valid ID, email and mobile active. Ready caste, EWS or PwBD certificates. Choose the correct state and language. Pay via UPI, cards or net banking. Save the e‑receipt and application print.
