On the 18th of January, 2025, the Mahatma Mandir Convention & Exhibition Centre in Gandhinagar was abuzz with the graduation of the pioneering class of the International Professional Master's Program (iPMP) in Smart Manufacturing from the New Age Makers' Institute of Technology (NAMTECH). This landmark event was marked by the presentation of Post Graduate Certificates to 53 students, heralding the arrival of a new breed of technologists ready to take on the world. In a parallel celebration of innovation and foresight, the venue also hosted the inaugural Manufacturing, Engineering and Technology (MET) Expo, showcasing advanced digital technologies and providing a glimpse into NAMTECH’s visionary approach towards education and manufacturing solutions, highlighted by an advanced spatial AI enabled XR platform.

NAMTECH's commitment to fostering 'Conscious Technologists' is a response to the urgent need for skilled professionals in India's burgeoning manufacturing sector, aiming to position the country as a global manufacturing powerhouse. By integrating interdisciplinary learning, as emphasized by the National Education Policy 2020, the institute's accelerated one-year master's program and pioneering microlearning factories offer students unparalleled hands-on experience. This innovative educational model enables them to address real-world challenges using the latest digital technologies, thus bridging the gap between academic learning and practical application.
The convocation and accompanying expo were graced by the presence of illustrious guests such as Dr. K Radhakrishnan, the former Chairman of ISRO; Ms. Debjani Ghosh, a Distinguished Fellow at Niti Aayog and former Vice-President and MD of Intel South Asia; and Dr. K N Vyas, a Distinguished Homi Bhabha Chair Professor at the Department of Atomic Energy. Their attendance underscored NAMTECH's pivotal role in enhancing the skills landscape of India’s manufacturing and engineering sectors.
Arunkumar Pillai, Director General of NAMTECH, underscored the institute’s vital contributions towards realizing the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan' initiative and its dedicated efforts to empower women in the manufacturing field. He commended the inaugural batch for their pioneering spirit and significant contributions towards establishing NAMTECH as a beacon of innovation and excellence in education.
NAMTECH stands out as a not-for-profit venture initiated by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India with a clear vision to reform the current industry-education interface. Through a dynamic curriculum and a focus on experiential learning across its four distinct schools—Manufacturing Technologies, Manufacturing Design and AI, Sustainability, and Robotics—supported by an Impact Center, NAMTECH is spearheading efforts to prepare students for the evolving challenges of future marketplaces. This initiative not only nurtures innovation within the MET sector but also ensures the creation of graduates who are ready to meet the demands of the industry head-on.
The MET Expo was a testament to NAMTECH’s dedication to embracing state-of-the-art educational methodologies and technologies integral to Industry 4.0. It celebrated the strides made by its students and the broader impact of the institution in producing graduates equipped to thrive in the industry.
