As the number of online job scams has increased, the Union Home Ministry has begun to take action, blocking over 100+ websites involved in illicit investments and part-time employment fraud. According to the report, the prohibited websites were run by persons from other countries, which the official statement corroborated.

"The National Cybercrime Threat Analytics Unit (NCTAU), a branch of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), detected and recommended the banning of over 100 websites participating in these job scams, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs, in order to construct a "cyber safe India." Following the recommendations, the MeitY used its authority under the Information Technology Act of 2000 to restrict these websites, according to an MHA official.
The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), a branch of the Union Home Ministry's vertical National Cybercrime Threat Analytics Unit (NCTAU), found and advised shutting these fraudulent websites. In India, the websites were involved in deceptive investment schemes and part-time work frauds. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) prohibited these websites in accordance with the Information Technology Act of 2000 and in accordance with the I4C's recommendation.
These websites were run by people from other countries. They were conducting their fraudulent activities on the site utilising digital ads, hired accounts, and chat messengers. The government statement went on to say that these economic crimes were being laundered out of India using a variety of methods, including overseas ATM transactions, cryptocurrencies, card networks, and multinational Fintech firms.
According to the MHA, these job frauds were carried out by overseas actors who used internet advertisements, chat messengers, and mule or rented accounts. The MHA also outlined how these websites functioned, claiming that fraudsters use platforms such as Google and Meta to conduct targeted digital adverts. Keywords like "Ghar baithe job" and "Ghar baithe kamai kaise karen" attract people who are looking for part-time work, such as retired employees, women, and unemployed youth. When victims click on the adverts, agents contact them using messaging apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram.
