India’s First AI University Set to Launch in Maharashtra – A New Era in Tech Education

In a groundbreaking move, Maharashtra is set to establish India's first university dedicated exclusively to Artificial Intelligence (AI). Announced by the state's Information Technology Minister Ashish Shelar, this initiative positions Maharashtra at the forefront of AI education, research, and innovation. The principal secretary of the IT department, directors from prestigious institutions like IIT Bombay and IIM Mumbai, and representatives from top corporations such as Mahindra Group, Google India, and L&T are all involved in shaping the university's roadmap.

The inaugural Maharashtra AI Policy 2025 Taskforce Committee meeting, held at Sahyadri Guest House, witnessed active discussions between government officials and AI experts. The focus was on utilizing AI for good governance, boosting employment opportunities, and accelerating AI-based industrial growth.
