India Post GDS Recruitment 2024: 44228 GDS Vacancies, know steps to apply and more details

India Post has unveiled details for the recruitment of 44,228 Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) positions across the country. Candidates can apply for these roles based on state and regional requirements. The online application process began on July 15, 2024.

Job Profile and Responsibilities

• Branch Postmaster (BPM): Manage postal operations, oversee marketing and promotion, and handle the day-to-day functioning of the Branch Post Office. BPMs are responsible for arranging their own accommodation for running the post office.
• Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM): Support BPMs with postal operations, mail delivery, and transaction handling. ABPMs must live within the jurisdiction of their designated post office.
• Dak Sevak: Facilitate mail delivery, assist with post office operations, and perform marketing duties. Dak Sevaks are also required to reside within the delivery area of their post office.

Eligibility Criteria

Education: Candidates must have completed 10th grade from a recognized board, such as CBSE or any state board, to be eligible for the Gramin Dak Sevak posts.
Age Limit: Applicants must be between 18 and 40 years of age.

Selection Process

• Merit-Based Selection: Selection will be based on a merit list created from 10th-grade marks.
• Regional Selection: Candidates will be selected based on their marks within their respective regions. In cases where there is a single vacancy in a village, the candidate with the highest 10th-grade marks from that village will be appointed.
