The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras is collaborating with multiple industries to offer employability-focused programs through 'SWAYAM Plus', a significant initiative by the Union Ministry of Education.

Recently, 24 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with leading industry partners across various sectors to provide skill and employability-focused online programs and internships accessible nationwide. This brings the total number of industry partners for SWAYAM Plus to 36. Launched by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on February 27, 2024, SWAYAM Plus has benefited over 75,000 learners with more than 165 courses, including 33 aligned with the National Credit Framework across sectors such as IT, Healthcare, BFSI, and Indian Knowledge Systems.
The MoUs were signed on campus in the presence of Professor V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, Professor R Sarathi, Dean (Planning) of IIT Madras, and Professor In-Charge of SWAYAM Plus, along with the leadership teams of the industry partners.
These MoUs cover a wide range of fields, including Information Technology, Social Sciences, Banking and Finance, Soft Skills, Music, Management, Food Science, and Indian Knowledge Systems, ensuring comprehensive skill development across crucial areas for future employability.
