The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras) has forged a partnership with the French aerospace and defense company Starburst Accelerator SARL to establish an innovative startup hub, backed by funding of €100 million.

Starburst Accelerator SARL aims to establish venture capital funds for ASD (Aerospace, Space, and Defense) technology, which serves as a potent catalyst for India's economic transformation and its integration into the global arena. This collaboration will facilitate the promotion of exports and offer support to Indian ASD startups in exploring international markets through Starburst's extensive network.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalizing this collaboration was signed on Monday, March 25, 2024, at the IIT Madras campus. The signatories included Mr. François Chopard, Founder and CEO of Starburst Aerospace, Mr. Cedric Vallet, Innovation and Venture Director at Starburst Aerospace, Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, and Prof. Manu Santhanam, Dean (ICSR) of IIT Madras, alongside representatives from both IIT Madras and Starburst Aerospace.
