IIT Kharagpur wins CIMA India Global Business Challenge 2014

Mumbai, April 14, 2014: The Global Business Challenge (GBC) 2014 hosted by CIMA, world's leading management accounting body, completed its India finals in Mumbai on April 13, 2014.

Seven teams from four regions of the country participated in the finale representing their respective regions. Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi; IIT Kharagpur; NMIMS Anil Surendra Modi School of Commerce, Mumbai; IIT Guwahati; Delhi Technological University; NIT Trichy and Jain University, Bangalore, competed to represent Team India at the Global Final.

Team God Particles, comprising of four students - Vaibhav Bhargava, Naman Agrawal, Pranav Gargieya and Raunak Mukherjee, emerged as the winner. Vaibhav Bhargava was declared the Best Speaker. Team EngiBusiness from Delhi Technological University was announced as the runner-up team.

The panel of judges consisted of eminent business leaders such as Girish Bhat, CFO, Gammon India; Kunal Jadhav, Director, Head of Trade Control & OTC Derivatives Trade Services, Barclays Shared Services India; Ramesh Swaminathan, CFO, Lupin Limited and Koshy Mathews, Director- Markets, GSS Kerala, Ernst & Young.

Speaking on the occasion of 2014 GBC India finals, Debasish Biswas, Country Head, CIMA India, said, "The Global Business Challenge has been expanding its horizon every year in India and is a great platform for undergraduate students from universities & colleges across the country to showcase their talent and skills in business management. This year, each zonal round has witnessed highly focused & competent teams fighting it out for the unique opportunity to represent CIMA India in the upcoming Global Finals. It would be interesting to see how our India team (IIT Kharagpur) competes with finalist teams from 23 countries in the Global Finals during August. I wish them all the best."

After the grand success of GBC Global Finals held in China, Sri Lanka and South Africa during the past few years - CIMA India is proud to host the Global Finals in Mumbai this year, where 24 countries will compete to win the Global Winner's Trophy & other prizes.
The CIMA Global Business Challenge is an international business competition designed to bring out the best in the young business leaders of tomorrow. The competition is organised in partnership with Barclays, who shares CIMA's vision of developing and nurturing young talent around the world.
