IIT Kharagpur and Indian Association for the cultivation of Science (IACS) will provide MSc-PhD programme in chemical and molecular biology. According to India Today, the prestigious institutes have signed a memorandum of understanding in order to offer the aforementioned programme.
IIT Kharagpur and IACS will jointly offer biology and chemistry; however, IIT Kharagpur will award the degrees. IACS will take care of chemical biology and IIT Kharagpur will be handling molecular and cell biology.
The programme is seen as the bridge between the two premier institutes for exchanging academic ideas and skills. Faculty members from both IIT Kharagpur and IACS will together guide a student. The students will have an opportunity to decide if they would want to continue their studies for a PhD degree after two years.
Stipend:
After getting admitted for the programme, the students will be given Rs 12, 000 per month as a fixed stipend. However, they will be able to enjoy this facility based on their performance and compliance with the rules set by the two institutes.

Candidates will be shortlisted through a written test, which will be conducted at IACS, Kolkata.
The shortlisted candidates will have to attend an interview. Maximum 10 candidates will be selected for admission.
