IIT Kanpur Phase I Placements 2022: 33 Offers Above Rs 1 Cr; 1128 Students Placed

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has completed Phase 1 of the 2022-23 placement season. Until the first phase was completed, 1,128 students accepted job offers, including 208 PPOs (pre-placement offers).

More than 250 organisations, including more than 35 startups, participated in phase 1 campus hiring, offering 1,200 jobs. Over 60 employers extended 208 PPOs, a 33% increase over the previous year's PPOs. The first wave of IIT Kanpur placements in 2022 witnessed 74 international offers, representing a 57% increase over the previous year. The highest domestic package as far is Rs 1.9 crore. According to the institute, 33 bids worth more than Rs 1 crore have been received from various international and national organisations.

The first phase of campus placements for the 2022-23 graduating class began on December 1 and lasted fifteen days, ending on December 15, 2022. After a two-year hiatus, placements were held in a hybrid format this time. Phase 2 of the campus placement season 2022-23 will commence mid-January 2023.

Campus Hiring: Companies

This year, many core organisations have expressed interest in hiring on campus. To date, 24% of offers at IIT Kanpur have come from key industries. The top recruiters at IIT Kanpur this season are Rakuten Mobile, American Express, PwC, Intel, Microsoft India, Reliance Industries Limited, Sprinklr, Qualcomm, EXL, Oracle India Pvt Ltd, SAP Labs, JP Morgan & Chase, Axtria, Texas Instruments, Quadeye Securities, HSBC, Axis Bank, CapitalOne, Eaton, Jaguar Land Rover India Limited, Jio Platforms Limited, Walmart Global Tech India, Wells Fargo.

IIT Kanpur director Abhay Karandikar said: "The Placement season is a much-anticipated time of the year for the students and us. We're glad to have consistent trust and confidence extended to us by the recruiters in the recent past."
Further, he added, "As we continue to take leaps in enriching the R&D ecosystem of the institute, we're witnessing good growth in job domains offered to our students as well.
