Which district will bag IIT?, is the million dollar question that has raised discussion, following the announcement of establishment of IIT in Karnataka in the Union Budget 2015-16
In this regard Oneindia, an online portal, conducted an audience poll, and given them the option to vote in anyone of the following district: Dharward, Raichur, Bangalore and Hassan, that are shortlisted by the government.
In reply to this, every one in the social media have posted their opinions. Be it education sector, real estate sector, public have quoted their own reasons for having IIT in their districts.
With this being the scenario, few students and research have of the strong opinion for not establishing IIT in Bangalore, instead they raised concerns to introduce reformations in the existing educational institutions.
As per the statistics, about 19, 750 audience have participated in the poll, out of which Dharwad bags more number of votes while the Raichur stands in the second place. Having this data we can conclude that Dharwad emerged as a winner.
Besides voting in, audience have also justified their reason as why the particular district should have to have the IIT? and why not the other districts?
Here are some public reactions on the topic.
A big 'NO' to Bangalore:
"The silicon city already has many educational institutions, which are crowded by students from North India
Establishment of other IIT may result in migration of more number of north Indian students whereas students of Karnataka are deprived of the facility", says one of the audiences from Bangalore.
Focusing on the development one of the voters said: " The development of Bangalore has far reached. Hence, it is necessary to concentrate on the development of other districts. What is wrong if the IIT is established in other districts of the state."
Project implementation is the priority
The focus should be on the implementation of the project rather than having discussion on the establishment of IIT. Implementation of project helps students pursue higher education instead of knocking the door of institutions from other states.
Dharwad emerges winner
Dharwad been the educational hub for North Karnataka students. Hence, it is essential to establish IIT in Dharwad to curb the provisional discriminations and also to provide quality education to students.
Why not Raichur?
"Raichur has always been sidelined by all the projects, launched by the government and the same should not be repeated this time," one of the voters vents his feelings.
Davangere is located in the middle of the state what is wrong if the IIT is established there.
What does Hassan have?
Hassan does not have a single institution, recognised by the government. Establishment of institution in the Hassan paves way to job accesibility down the lane.
Apart from these, voters from Shimoga , Mangalore , Chikkaballapur, Mysore, Chamarajnagar, Yadgiri and Coorg have given their perceptions to incorporate IIT in their districts.
Adding to the voice of audience,OneIndia also urges not to have IIT in Bangalore but in any other district.
