Union Minister for Education Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has appreciated the positive thinking and approach of the premier technical and scientific research institutes during a simulated interaction with the Directors of IITs, IIITs, NITs, NIITs, IISC and IISERs on COVID-19 management, virtual learning and implementation of National Education Policy 2020 or NEP 2020.
"I want to appreciate the positive thinking and positive reactions given by the institutes during this crucial time. It is an effort led by the Institutes of National Importance which will help in creating a positive sentiment in the society," the Education Minister in a tweeter post said.

Appreciating the efforts of institutes in tackling the COVID-19 situation, the Education Minister said that from the development of 'Corosure' testing kits, 'COVIRAP' for diagnostics to the development of oxygen concentrators and low-cost RT-PCR machines, it is notable to mention that many of the research products have been commercialised through the Incubation Cells and Startups.
On initiatives towards strengthening the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) Mr. Pokhriyal said that institutes have introduced multi-disciplinary programs. Emphasis has been put on Faculty Training/Mentorship and Internationalisation as well as academia-industry collaborations," he added.

As part of the NEP 2020, IISc Bangalore and IIT Kharagpur will be also be offering courses in Medical sciences.
