The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) hosted its 22nd convocation today i.e. September 22. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was invited as the Chief Guest and addressed the 22nd IIT Guwahati convocation 2020 through video-conferencing. Union Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Minister of State for Education Sanjay Dhotre were the Guests of Honour and Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal was special guest.

A total of 1,803 students, including 687 BTech and 637 MTech students received their degrees through virtual mode at the convocation. The 22nd Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) convocation 2020 ceremony was streamed live on YouTube and Facebook. Union Education Minister tweeted, "Celebrating the 22nd convocation ceremony of @IITGuwahati with Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji. MoS for Education Shri @SanjayDhotreMP, and CM of Assam Shri @sarbanandsonwal are also participating in the event."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 22nd IIT Guwahati Convocation 2020, followed by the Union Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Minister of State for Education Sanjay Dhotre.

The official website reads, "The virtual presence platform is created by a team led by Dr MK Bhuyan, Professor, Department of EEE, IIT Guwahati.The team also consists of his two students Snehil Sanyal and H Pallab Jyoti Dutta, who are research scholars of EEE Department, IIT Guwahati."
