The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi's Abu Dhabi campus will introduce two undergraduate courses starting this September, as announced by Director Rangan Banerjee. Established in 2023, the offshore campus currently offers only postgraduate programs.

Banerjee revealed that the new undergraduate courses will be in Computer Science Engineering and Energy Engineering. A total of 60 students will be admitted to these courses. This includes 20 students who qualify through JEE (Advanced) 2024 and 40 selected via a new entrance test called the Combined Admission Entrance Test (CAET).

Of the 40 seats available through CAET, half are reserved for UAE nationals, while the other half are for expatriates in the UAE, including Indian expatriates, and international students. This distribution aims to foster a diverse student body at the Abu Dhabi campus.
The Abu Dhabi campus is actively engaging with industry partners and stakeholders in the UAE and Gulf region. Research, innovation, and entrepreneurship activities are expected to commence soon. Plans are also underway to establish a permanent campus for IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi.
Currently, faculty from IIT Delhi's main campus are being seconded to teach at the Abu Dhabi campus based on a selection process approved by the board. "In due course, there will be faculty recruitment for the Abu Dhabi campus as well, in line with faculty recruitment standards of IIT Delhi and following similar processes, to ensure the quality of education in the Abu Dhabi campus is as per the standards established in the Delhi campus," Banerjee stated.
This initiative marks a significant step towards expanding IIT Delhi's educational footprint globally while maintaining its high standards of academic excellence. The introduction of undergraduate programs is expected to attract a wider pool of talent and enhance educational opportunities in the region.
By launching these new undergraduate courses, IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi aims to become a hub of academic excellence and innovation, contributing to the development of skilled professionals in the UAE and beyond.
