The Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) are on a spree in their recruitment drive. Recently, six IIMs have filled the post for Director. The hiring was done by the search cum selection committee of the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry according to HRD officials on Tuesday.
Two more IIMs at Kozhikode and Udaipur are yet to fill the post of Director and it will be conducted soon, it is learnt. An advertisement has already been published in this regard.
"The process of interviews for the post of director in IIMs Ranchi, Bengaluru, Nagpur, Sambalpur, Rohtak and Raipur has been completed and the search cum selection committee has already recommended panel of names for each of the aforesaid IIMs," a senior official said.
Further, the HRD ministry is forwarding these names to the Appointment Committee of Cabinet (ACC). The decision of ACC will be final.
The ministry officials also said that the process of filling of posts in many IIMs are in advanced stages, especially after news made rounds about the post of director in 13 IIMs lying vacant.
Replying to a question in the Lok Sabha, MoS for HRD Mahendra Nath Pandey had given details as per which IIMs where such post is lying vacant. They are Bangalore, Nagpur, Kozhikode, Amritsar, Sirmaur, Rohtak, Bodh Gaya, Ranchi, Sambalpur, Raipur, Udaipur, Visakhapatnam and Tiruchirappalli.
The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are a group of 20 public, autonomous institutes of management education and research in India. They primarily offer postgraduate, doctoral and executive education programmes.
IIMs are registered as societies under the Indian Societies Registration Act. Each IIM is autonomous and exercises independent control over its day-to-day operations. However, the administration of all IIMs and the overall strategy of IIMs is overseen by the IIM council.
