IIM Calcutta has proudly announced a 100% placement rate for its latest MBA batch, the 60th in its history, despite the uncertain market environment. The institution's flagship MBA program saw all 456 students securing job offers from 196 distinct companies. This achievement was highlighted in a recent statement by the school, which also mentioned that the placement process wrapped up by February 21. With a total of 538 positions offered, students had a wide range of opportunities across various sectors.

The consulting domain took the lead during this placement season, with a significant 37.3% of the offers, equating to 201 positions, originating from this sector. The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) stood out as the most prominent recruiter within the management consulting group, whereas Accenture Strategy was at the forefront of the strategy consulting group. Other notable consulting firms that engaged in the recruitment process included McKinsey, Kearney, Alvarez & Marsal, and Arthur D Little, along with Auctus Advisors, EY-Parthenon, Monitor Deloitte, TCS, KPMG, PwC, and Vector Consulting.
In the finance sector, noteworthy names such as Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Citi, and Barclays led the charge, offering roles in private equity, venture capital, investment banking, and wealth management. This sector alone accounted for 114 offers, showcasing the strong demand for IIM Calcutta graduates among prestigious financial institutions. Additional firms that contributed to this tally included UBS, HSBC, BNP Paribas, Standard Chartered, Kotak Mahindra Capital, Kotak Alternate Asset, and Edelweiss.
The technology sector also demonstrated strong participation, with companies like Google, Microsoft, Infosys Global, and Ola, among others, extending 78 offers to the students. The marketing and general management domains were not far behind, amassing a total of 145 job offers and featuring new participants such as DBS Bank, Welspun, Juspay, and Policybazaar.
This year's placement season was marked by several emerging trends, including a surge in pre-placement offers and the entry of numerous global firms as first-time recruiters. This underscored the growing confidence in the caliber of candidates graduating from IIM Calcutta's MBA program. Among the sectors making a strong showing, the payments and card segment saw American Express and Mastercard leading as top recruiters, highlighting the diversity of industries interested in IIM Calcutta's graduates.
Professor Ritu Mehta, chairperson of the placement committee, expressed gratitude for the outstanding placement results, stating, "We are very fortunate to have remarkable placement results despite challenging market conditions. Our graduates have secured excellent opportunities to kickstart their careers after completing the management degree. We are deeply grateful to our recruiters for reposing their trust in our students and academic ecosystem." This year's success further cements IIM Calcutta's reputation as a leading source of top-tier management talent, capable of thriving in diverse and dynamic professional settings.
