IIM Ahmedabad celebrates 49th Annual Convocation Day

Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, has celebrated its 49th annual convocation day on 22nd March 2014.

Anand Mahindra, Chairman and Managing Director of Mahindra & Mahindra, was the chief guest of the event.

A total of 524 graduating students of IIM-A's postgraduate and fellow programmes received diploma at this year's convocation.

For the first time, the graduating batch has pledged a monthly commitment of Rs 200 per month to their alma mater even before it starts drawing salaries. IIM-A director Ashish Nanda said that the total contribution came down to Rs 14 lakh for the batch.

Shri Anil M. Naik, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIMA said, "My hearty congratulations to the Class of 2014, graduating from one of India's most prestigious institutions of learning. I also felicitate your families who have no doubt been the pillars of strength and support that made your achievement possible".

"Dear students, this is a milestone occasion in your life and we are gathered here today to honour your efforts, applaud your accomplishments and wish you even greater success ahead," he added.

Prof. Ashish Nanda, Director, IIMA said, "It is an honour to participate in the convocation ceremony of an institute whose convocation I last attended three decades ago as a participant, and to speak to an audience that includes not only young, fresh-faced students but also wise, experienced colleagues, some of whom were my teachers in this very institute".

"IIM-A has tremendous strengths that provide a powerful platform for ongoing success in the future. Our commitment to high quality and engaged classroom learning is exemplary.
