The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) has cancelled the ICSE Class 10 Board Examination due to the massive surge in Covid-19 cases across the country. Earlier, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) board had made the Class 10 Board Exams optional, and the Class 12 Board Exam has been postponed. The government made the announcement for the Cancellation of ICSE Class 10 Board Exams on 20 April 2021 in view of the ongoing Covid-19 crisis. All schools that are affiliated with the CISCE have been advised to begin admissions for Class 11.
According to the circular issued by the board, currently, the safety and wellbeing of the students and faculties is the topmost priority.
However, the ISC Class 12 Board exam status remains the same and the new dates will be announced in June.
Recently, the Education Minister and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the postponement of CBSE Class 12 Board Exams and the cancelation of Class 10 Exams due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Following the decision of CBSE, many other state boards have also decided to cancel or postpone the Board exams for students.

Last year, CISCE had to cancel Board exams midway in view of the Covid-19 outbreak. The Board then had adopted an assessment scheme that included three parameters - (i) an average of the best three papers percentage, (ii) total marks obtained in the project and practical subjects, and (iii) percentage of the internal assessment or projects and practical work. The CISCE may adopt something similar this year too, yet the final assessment criteria will be informed officially later.
This year, the ICSE Class 10 Board Exams were scheduled to be conducted from 05 May 2021 to 07 June 2021, while the ISC Class 12 Board Exams were to be conducted from 05 May 2021 to 16 June 2021.
