Management students of Madras University and other affiliated colleges club together to be a part of an event called 'HR fusion'. In the curtain raiser event, students interacted with the experts of 'Human Resources'.
Designed on the back drop theme of 'Exceeding Expectation', the event proved to be a very informative show for the students. PT Sirinivasan, head of the department of management studies at the university says "Good performance is not good enough for the management students. They need to excel in their field, which is why we are focusing on exceeding expectations."
"Managers will have to handle different types of people at their work place and they need to be leaders, not bosses. More than the theory, students should understand how to tackle practical situations," says J Uma Maheshwari, additional secretary, higher education department, in her inaugural speech.
Vice-Chancellor of the university, R Thandavan, while addressing to the students and faculty says "HR employees should not compromise on quality in any assignment. Performance of the employees in the company must exceed expectations for the organisation to do the same with stakeholders."
Shiva Subramaniam, CEO of Paper Clip, spoke about 'creativity in thinking of managers' and Sunil kumar, center head of the World bank in Chennai, took session on 'Journey of the World Bank: HRD Lessons."
