HITS Conducts Sports Quota Selection for the Academic Year 2024 - 2025

Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS), Chennai, is thrilled to announce the sports quota selection trials for the admission year 2024-2025, scheduled to take place from April 5th to 7th, 2024, starting from 7:00 a.m. onwards. The trials will be held at HITS Bay Range Campus, Padur, on the specified dates.

The School of Physical Education & Sports Sciences at HITS eagerly welcomes fresh talent for the academic year 2024-2025. Over the years, HITS has gained a world-class reputation for fostering not only academic and research excellence but also sporting prowess. More than 100 students have availed nearly Rs.12 crores worth of sports scholarship in the past 3 years.

Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Chancellor HITS in his statement enthused on Hindustan's diverse student body with over 1000 students including talented sports persons across various fields. Prospective students showcase their sporting skills and talents during the trials, earning spots in different programs at HITS. Qualified candidates stand to benefit from numerous perks, including free education, scholarships, accommodation, and sports kits. Additionally, they also receive full support from the university to undergo specialized training in their chosen sport alongside a top-quality education. Furthermore, they have the opportunity to represent the country, state, and university, showcasing their talents in major championships organized by recognized bodies.

Students vying for sports admissions at HITS have the opportunity to compete in a diverse range of sports disciplines that include athletics, archery, basketball, badminton, boxing, chess, cricket, horse riding, sailing, kick boxing, swimming, football, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, netball, canoeing, kayaking and rowing.

To be eligible for consideration under the sports quota for admissions at HITS, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Possession of International, National, or State Medals or Participation in recognized championships conducted by Sports Federations/Sports Bodies approved by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports/Association of Indian Universities for university championships.
Direct admission will be granted to candidates who have represented their country in prestigious events such as the Olympic Games, World Championships, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, Asian Championships, and Para Olympics.
These stringent criteria ensure that candidates admitted through the sports quota demonstrate exceptional talent and achievements in their respective sports disciplines, thereby enriching the sporting culture and excellence at HITS.

The sports trials will include rigorous physical, technical, and game performance evaluations conducted by a group of selection committee members to ensure fair and transparent selection. In addition to meeting the sporting criteria, students applying for admissions through the sports quota at HITS must also submit proper academic qualification certificates (Original and Photocopies). These certificates should be original, duly signed by a Gazetted Officer.
