Amid a rapid surge in the COVID-19 cases across the country pulsated by the second wave, the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has called off Class 10 board exams (final) while postponing the Class 12 exams for an indefinite period until further orders.
The decision to postpone Class 12 exams and cancel Class 10 board exams was arrived at a cabinet meeting granting a sigh of relief to all students who were in limbo over the conduct of Class X board exams and Class 12 exams by HPBOSE amid a raging pandemic.
Reiterating the decision to postpone Class 12 exams and cancel Class 10 board exams, the Himachal Pradesh government in a tweeter post said, "Keeping in view the sharp surge of covid-19 cases in the State, it was also decided in the meeting that the annual examination of the 10th standard of Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education would stand cancelled."

It was also decided that the 12th standard examination of Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education and the annual examination of colleges would also remain suspended till further orders, the IPR Dept., further tweeted.

The Information and Public Relations Dept., further informed that as Class 10 board exams stood cancelled, students now will now be promoted as per norms laid out by the CBSE board for its students for promotion to Class 11 i.e. on the basis of internal assessment (20 marks) and candidates performance in the exams (80 marks) conducted during the academic session (first and second term examinations).
"All the students would be promoted to the 11th class by the Board as per the norms suggested by CBSE for its students for the 10th standard examination," IPR Dept tweeted.
