The Himachal Pradesh cabinet has approved a government engineering college at Nagrota-Bagwan in Kangra district and four Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in different districts, and also created the functional posts.
The ITIs will come up at Gagret (Una), Balh (Mandi), Manali and Patta Mehlog (Solan). The cabinet, presided over by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, also gave its nod for establishment of Poorna Shakti Kendra (PSK) Project in Solan district under the National Mission for Empowerment of Women.
The engineering college would have 40 seats each in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Electrical Engineering trades while all four ITIs will be functional from the next academic session with two trades.
Under the PSK project, at least 10 centres will be opened in gram panchayats, one convergence and facilitation centre at Block / Tehsil level and one centre at the district level.
The posts for the implementation of this project will be created and filled up on co-terminus basis. The cabinet approved filling of 100 vacant posts of Ayurvedic Medical Officers on contract basis.
Fifty posts of clerks will also be filled on contract basis through the HP Subordinate Service Selection Board, Hamirpur in relaxation of recruitment and promotion rules.
Eight posts of lecturers in Himachal Pradesh Government Dental College will be filled through the State Public Service Commission. The cabinet also approved selection of Power Trading Corporation India Limited and Tata Power Trading Company Ltd. (TPCL) for one year for sale of government's entitlement of power from various hydroelectric projects.
It was also decided that the trading margin might be increased if better rates for power sale were received. In pursuance of the announcement made by Chief Minister in October last, the cabinet further decided to set up three zonal offices of the Ayurveda Directorate in Dharamshala, Mandi and Shimla.
