Higher Education Institutions Urged To Postpone All Offline Exams Scheduled In May; Online Exams To Continue

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has urged all centrally funded educational institutions to postpone offline exams scheduled in the month of May, 2021 owing to a surge in the COVID-19 cases across the country pulsated by the second wave.

Although the higher education institutions have been advised to postpone offline exams, but they may continue to hold online exams in an appropriate manner as per education minister norms.

The decision to postpone offline exams was conveyed by Higher Education Secretary Amit Khare in a letter addressed to all the heads of the centrally funded institutions urging them to postpone offline exams as a whole that are scheduled in the month of May, 2021 while permitting the conduct of online exams

The decision to hold offline exams will be reviewed in the first week of June, 2021 the letter stated.

The Ministry of Education on postponing offline exams tweeted, "Keeping the current pandemic situation in mind, Secretary, #HigherEducation, @EduMinOfIndia Shri Amit Khare Ji has urged the Higher Education Institutions to postpone all offline examinations scheduled in the month of May, 2021."

The institutions have been further advised to ensure that if anyone in the institution needs any assistance it should be provided with immediate possible help so that he/she comes out of the distress at the earliest.

All Institutions have to encourage eligible persons to go for vaccination and ensure that everyone follows Covid-19 appropriate behavior to remain safe, the Higher Education Secretary wrote in his letter.
