Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini Unveils Roadmap to Make State a Global Knowledge Economy Under NEP

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has reaffirmed the state government's commitment to transforming Haryana into a world-class knowledge economy by strengthening higher education, promoting innovation, and implementing reforms under the National Education Policy (NEP).

Haryana Eyes Global Education Hub Under NEP

The Chief Minister stated that the government is redesigning the state's education ecosystem with a long-term vision centred on "Re-design, Re-imagine, and Re-invest", ensuring that students receive globally competitive education and skill development opportunities.

Haryana CM Unveils Knowledge Economy Vision Under NEP

Speaking at a programme held at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST), Hisar, the Chief Minister highlighted the state's efforts to align universities and colleges with the objectives of the National Education Policy while preparing young people for future employment and research opportunities.

Projects Worth ₹7.58 Crore Inaugurated

During the event, CM Saini inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several infrastructure projects worth ₹7.58 crore aimed at improving educational facilities and campus infrastructure.

The major projects include:

  • Foundation stone for a Girls' Hostel to be constructed at a cost of ₹6 crore.
  • Inauguration of the Nursing Department Building, developed at a cost of ₹1.40 crore, to strengthen medical education and healthcare training.
  • Inauguration of the Khejarli Mahabalidan Smriti Shilp and Mata Devi Circle, constructed at a cost of ₹18 lakh.

The Chief Minister also announced that the newly inaugurated Nursing Block would be named after former Haryana Chief Minister Chaudhary Bhajan Lal, recognising his contribution to the state's development.

Education Reforms Based on NEP

Addressing students, faculty members, and officials, the Chief Minister said Haryana has undertaken comprehensive reforms in higher education by implementing the National Education Policy across state universities and affiliated colleges.

According to him, the reforms are focused on:

  • Improving academic quality.
  • Promoting multidisciplinary education.
  • Strengthening research and innovation.
  • Enhancing employability and skill development.
  • Encouraging technology-driven learning.
  • Building globally competitive educational institutions.

He stated that these initiatives would help position Haryana as a preferred destination for higher education and innovation.

CM Saini said the government's objective extends beyond expanding educational infrastructure. The broader vision is to develop Haryana into a knowledge-driven economy where education, research, entrepreneurship, and technological advancement work together to drive economic growth.

GJUST Receives Recognition for NEP Implementation

The Chief Minister praised Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology for effectively implementing the National Education Policy. He noted that the university has emerged as a model institution in adopting NEP reforms and promoting academic excellence.

For its outstanding efforts, GJUST was honoured by the Haryana Government with the NEP Implementation Excellence Award 2025 (Gold Category), recognising its contribution to educational transformation in the state.

Alignment with National Vision

CM Saini credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing the National Education Policy with the objective of making India a global knowledge superpower. He said Haryana's education reforms are aligned with this national vision and aim to provide students with modern, flexible, and industry-oriented education.

He further added that strengthening higher education institutions, promoting research, and expanding learning infrastructure will contribute significantly to the state's long-term social and economic progress.
