#SelfiewithGuru: A Campaign To Mark The Occasion Of Guru Purnima 2019

Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has launched a new campaign to mark the occasion of Guru Purnima 2019. He has invited the students to post the selfies with teachers on social media besides highlighting the importance and role of teachers in their lives.

Mr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has tweeted regarding Guru Purnima explained the importance of teachers. In a recorded message, the education minister asked the students to post the selfies with teachers and make this Guru Purnima 2019 big.

HRD Minister tweeted, "To mark the occasion of Guru Purnima, Union HRD Minister @DrRPNishank today launched a people's campaign #SelfiewithGuru inviting participation from all to post their selfie with their teachers on social media and highlight the importance of teachers in our lives."

Guru Purnima is a festival celebrated mostly by Hindus, Buddhists and Jains to honour their teachers. Many believe that Guru Purnima is commemorated when Lord Shiva became the first Guru to transform the yoga to Saptarishis. Buddhists celebrate this day in honour of Lord Buddha who gave his first sermon at Sarnath in Uttar Pradesh.
