The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board has decided to cancel the Class 12th board examinations 2021. The Government has taken the decision following the Centre's decision to cancel the CBSE 12th board exams 2021. Gujarat Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama has confirmed that the GSEB Class 12th board exams 2021 slated to be conducted from July 1 to 16 stands cancelled. The GSEB is likely to release the assessment criteria to promote students.

Last week, the Gujarat Board released the Class 10th and Class 12th date sheet scheduled to begin from July 1. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani decided to hold exams after a high-level meeting. However, the board has cancelled the Gujarat Class 12th board exams shortly after the union government decision to cancel the CISCE and CBSE 12th board exams 2021.
Earlier, the Gujarat government decided to postpone the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams scheduled to be held in April due to a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases across the state. As per the sources, around 1.40 lakh students of the Science stream and more than 5.43 lakh students of the general stream (arts and commerce) will be promoted based on the internal assessment.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting on June 1 and decided to cancel the CBSE Class 12th exams considering the health and safety of students.
Modi tweeted, "Government of India has decided to cancel the Class XII CBSE Board Exams. After extensive consultations, we have taken a decision that is student-friendly, one that safeguards the health as well as future of our youth."

The GSEB is likely to conduct the board exams for those students who are not satisfied with the results. However, the exams will be held when the conditions are conducive to hold the exams.
