The Government of Bihar has decided to give two percent reservation in government jobs to the grand children of freedom fighters under the Swatantrata Sainik Samman Pension Scheme, instituted by the central government.
The government has taken the responsibility to look after the freedom fighters who are alive, their spouses and dependent children. Presently, about 1,70,200 freedom fighters and their dependents have availed the benefit of the scheme.
The decision in this regard was made during the state cabinet meeting and it was decided that the reservation will be provided to the grand children of only those freedom fighters whose names figured in the list, which was prepared by union government.
Besides, the granddaughters of freedom fighters will be granted Rs 51 thousand as a marriage assistance.
