Free College Education for girls in Karnataka

The Karnataka state government has decided to provide free college education to 125,000 girls in the state.

In a recent higher education department meeting, the officials made a decision to provide free education to the girls. According to the new policy, girls don't have to pay tuition fee and laboratory fees.

Earlier, the government had offered free education to the degree courses to the students who are studying in government colleges. Now it has been extended to the students who are in aided colleges as well.

The estimated cost of Rs 25 crore per year will be payable to this new policy.

Higher education officials have clearly stated that, around 1,298 lectures will be appointed to the government degree colleges across the state through Common Entrance Test (CET). Recruitment process would commence from September 15, 2014.
