E-commerce giant Flipkart announced on Tuesday that it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), the industry interface organization of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D), to collaborate on joint research regarding personas aimed at enhancing personalized recommendations.

Under the MoU, Flipkart will provide research grants and market insights to FITT to create detailed, data-driven user segments across various e-commerce categories, considering factors such as shopping behavior and demographics.
This partnership reflects Flipkart's commitment to fostering academic alliances and conducting industry-focused research to address key industry challenges. Additionally, Flipkart and FITT will undertake various initiatives together, including organizing seminars, providing conference travel grants, and collaborating on company-sponsored research projects of mutual interest. Through collaborations with academic institutions, Flipkart aims to develop indigenous solutions tailored to the unique challenges of the Indian market.
For the past two years, Flipkart has collaborated with students and faculty members from esteemed academic institutions to create innovative solutions tailored to address the distinctive real-world challenges encountered in India's diverse market. During this period, Flipkart has initiated five projects in partnership with IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, and IISc.
