WBJEE 2014 Test Pattern and Syllabus

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB), Kolkata, issues applications for West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) for the year 2014.

Candidates are advised to go through the WBJEE test pattern and syllabus to score the excellent marks in the examination.

Test Pattern:

Question Pattern:

In every subject, all questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ-type, with four options against each of the questions) and the answer(s) to each of the questions has to be marked on the OMR.

WBJEE 2014 Test Pattern and Syllabus

Questions will be of three categories, divided as per following table:

Category 1:

  • Only one option is correct, correct response will yield one mark.
  • For each incorrect response, 33.33% of full mark (1/3) would be deducted.
  • For more than one answer indicated against a particular question in the OMR sheet; the said answer will be treated as incorrect response / answer.

WBJEE 2014 Eligibility Criteria

Category 2:

  • Only one option is correct, correct response will yield two marks.
  • For each incorrect response, 33.33% of full marks (2/3) would be deducted.
  • For more than one answer indicated against a particular question in the OMR sheet; the said answer will be treated as incorrect response / answer.

Category 3:

  • More than one option may be correct and marking of all correct options only will yield two marks.
  • For any combination of answers containing one or more incorrect responses, net mark awarded will be zero (0).
  • For partially correct response without any incorrect marking: Marks awarded = 2 X (no of correct responses) / (total no of correct options)

Syllabus:

Physics:

Mechanics & General properties of matter, Gravitation, Hydrostatics and Fluid Mechanics, Vibrations, Wave motion, Thermal Physics, Thermodynamics, Optics, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Electromagnetism, Modern Physics.

Mathematics:

  • Algebra: A.P., G.P., H.P, Logarithms, Complex Numbers, Quadratic Equations, Permutation and combination, Principle of mathematical induction, Binomial theorem, Infinite series, Sets, Relations and Mappings.
  • Trigonometry.
  • Coordinate geometry of two dimensions: Basic Ideas, Straight line, Circle, Ellipse and Hyperbola.
  • Calculus: Differential calculus, Integral calculus, Application of Calculus.

Chemistry:

Atoms, Molecules and Chemical Arithmetic, Atomic Structure, The Periodic Table and Chemical Families, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, Gaseous state, Chemical Energetics and Chemical Dynamics, Physical Chemistry of Solutions, Ionic and Redox Equilibrium, Solubility and Solubility Products, Chemistry of Non-metallic Elements and their Compounds, Chemistry of Metals, Chemistry in Industry, Heavy Chemicals, Environmental Chemistry, Chemistry of Carbon Compounds, Aliphatic Compounds, Aromatic Compounds, Application Oriented Chemistry, Introduction to Bio-Molecules, Principles of Qualitative Analysis.
