Receiving a degree in the field of technical education entrusts one with a great responsibility to the society, Dr V N Rajasekharan Pillai, former Chairman UGC and former Vice-chancellor Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi, said.
Speaking at the Ninth Convocation of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Calicut, one of the leading research and academic institutes in India, he said for applying the text of knowledge and skills acquired during the college days, one must understand the context of the society.
Convocation ceremony was conducted at the institute for 1251 students who graduated in the academic year 2012-13.
This included 767 B.Tech, 31 B.Arch, 335 M.Tech, 42 MCA, 20 M.Sc, 26 MBA and 21 Ph.D degrees. Over 750 graduates attended the ceremony.
