Manipur's Chief Minister N. Biren Singh Opens DIET Building To Enhance Education

The inauguration of the District Institute of Education and Training building in Kasom Khullen by N. Biren Singh marks a significant advancement in Manipur’s educational infrastructure, showcasing the government's commitment to enhancing teaching methodologies and accessibility for educators.

On Monday, a significant stride was made towards educational enhancement in Manipur with the virtual opening of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) building at Kasom Khullen, Kamjong district, by Chief Minister N. Biren Singh. This development marks a notable effort by the state government to bolster the education sector, a priority that has been consistently pursued despite financial hurdles. The DIET building, erected at a cost of roughly Rs 5.61 crore, stands as a testament to the government's dedication to improving educational facilities across the state.

DIET Building Inaugurated In Manipur To Boost Education

The Chief Minister emphasized the state's commitment to its residents' welfare and the pursuit of inclusive development to foster unity among the populace of various regions. This initiative aligns with the "Go to Hills Mission," launched shortly after Singh's administration came to power in 2017, aimed at narrowing the developmental divide across Manipur.

Advancements in Educational Infrastructure

The inauguration event also shed light on the state's STAR education programme, which has reportedly enhanced teaching methodologies through targeted training for educators. Such improvements are pivotal for the state's academic landscape, potentially elevating the quality of education provided to its students. Furthermore, Singh highlighted the reduction in travel time from Imphal to Kasom Khullen to approximately one-and-a-half hours, a significant decrease from the previous seven to eight hours, which underscores the broader infrastructural progress under his governance.

Regrettably, the Chief Minister could not attend the inauguration in person but assured that concerns regarding staffing shortages and other deficiencies in various DIETs across Manipur would be addressed. This commitment indicates a hands-on approach to ensuring the newly inaugurated facility, along with others, operates efficiently and fulfills its educational mission.

Expansion of DIET Centres

In support of the Chief Minister's vision, Education Minister Th. Basanta Kumar announced the approval for establishing a DIET centre in every district within the state. Currently, nine DIETs are operational, with buildings for four institutes already completed. This expansion signifies a comprehensive strategy to enhance the educational framework in Manipur, ensuring that quality training and resources are accessible to educators throughout the state.

The state government's initiatives, particularly in education, are a clear reflection of its resolve to bridge development gaps and advance the welfare of its citizens. The DIET at Kasom Khullen, along with the planned expansion of DIET centres, represents a forward step in equipping educators with the tools and knowledge necessary to contribute to the state's educational growth.

In wrapping up, the inauguration of the DIET building at Kasom Khullen by Manipur's Chief Minister N. Biren Singh is more than just the unveiling of a structure. It is a symbol of the government's unwavering commitment to educational development, even in the face of financial challenges. With a focus on improving teaching methodologies through the STAR education programme and reducing travel times for better accessibility, the state is on a promising path toward enhancing the quality of education for its future generations.
