A total of 9,45,872 candidates had registered for the exam. The results for the UGC NET December 2023 were announced on January 18.
The eligibility criteria for the position of Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor will be determined based on the candidate's performance in both papers of the UGC-NET combined. However, candidates who qualify solely for the role of Assistant Professor will not be considered for the JRF designation.
Candidates participating in the UGC-NET exam must carefully indicate in the application form whether they are applying for the role of 'Assistant Professor' or 'Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor'. Those who pass the exam for Assistant Professor eligibility will be subject to the norms and guidelines governing the recruitment of assistant professors at their respective universities, colleges, or state governments.
Candidates who achieve qualification for the JRF designation will gain the opportunity to pursue research in their postgraduate subject or a related field. Additionally, they will become eligible for the position of assistant professor at colleges.
