DUSU Elections 2026: Polling, Candidates and Counting Details

The Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) Elections 2026-27 entered the polling phase on September 18, 2026, with students voting across the university's member colleges for the four central panel posts - President, Vice-President, Secretary and Joint Secretary. Polling was conducted in two shifts to cover students attending morning and evening classes.

Students attending day classes voted from 8:30 AM to 1 PM, while the polling window for evening students was 3 PM to 7:30 PM. More than 1.51 lakh students were eligible to vote in the election.

Student groups placed different proposals before voters, particularly following concerns around student accommodation and safety after the Satya Niketan building collapse.

The election process also drew attention from the Delhi High Court, which considered petitions and concerns relating to alleged campaign-rule violations. The court directed authorities to ensure compliance with applicable election norms.

DUSU Election 2026 Counting on September 19

After polling ended on September 18, the EVMs were to be transported to the designated counting centre. Counting of votes is scheduled for September 19, 2026, at the Multipurpose Hall of the University Sports Stadium in North Campus.

According to a report published after polling, the voter turnout was 40.46%. The turnout figure reflects participation across the eligible electorate and is separate from the eventual results of the four central-panel contests.
