DUSU Election 2024 Results Delayed Again: Vote Counting on November 25

The Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) Election 2024 results, eagerly awaited by thousands, have been postponed once more. Originally scheduled for November 21, the vote counting will now begin on Monday, November 25, marking nearly two months since the elections were held on September 27, 2024. The delay stems from unresolved issues surrounding campus defacement and campaign material cleanup.

DUSU Election 2024 Results Delayed Again

The postponement follows a directive from the Delhi High Court, mandating a thorough cleanup of campaign materials from the university's premises before the results can be declared. Despite initial expectations that students would take responsibility for clearing the materials, progress has been insufficient.

To address the issue, the university has taken over the cleanup operations. Professor Satyapal Singh, DUSU Election Chief Election Officer, stated, "A survey revealed that some sites remained defaced. The university has now decided to handle the cleanup itself."

Revised Schedule for Vote Counting

With cleanup efforts underway, the university has announced the new timeline for vote counting:

November 25, 8 am: Counting of votes will begin for the central panel at the North Campus's Conference Center near the Botany Department.

This four-day delay reflects the institution's commitment to adhering to the High Court's order while striving to maintain campus integrity.

Strict Measures Against Defacement

In an unrelated but notable move, Delhi University recently expelled a student for six months for defacing a wall on North Campus. This action underscores the university's firm stance against vandalism, especially in the wake of challenges posed by election-related defacement.

The repeated delays have left students and candidates frustrated yet hopeful. The prolonged wait for the results has added to the anticipation, with many viewing this election as a pivotal moment for student representation at Delhi University.

As November 25 approaches, all eyes are on the university, eager for the conclusion of this long-drawn election process. While the delays highlight logistical challenges, they also reflect Delhi University's determination to uphold cleanliness and order as essential values for its vibrant academic community.

Stay tuned for the results and the much-awaited announcement of the next leaders of the DUSU central panel.
