The online registration process for Delhi University Admissions ended on Wednesday i.e., June 22, 2016 at 5pm. As per the data received, about 2,50,220 candidates have registered themselves for the undergradaute courses offered at various colleges afffiliated to the Delhi Univeristy.
According to TOI, the highest number of applications of about 50% have been received from Delhi alone.
The payment of the application fee continued till 12 midnight, and a few more thousand candidates have said to have joined the growing number of DU aspirants.
Out of the 2,50,220 candidates registered for the DU admission, 1,29,910 are male students and 1,20,295 are female students and 15 others category students.
The applications for the persons with disability category once again was lesser than the number of seats avaialable. For the 1,620 seats available in the disability category only 1,184 candidates have registered.
The cut-offs for this year's admissions are likely to be on the higher side for courses like the BA English (honours). This course alone has received the highest number of applications of 1,15,786 which is followed by BA programme with over 98,000 applications and BA (honours) Political Science too crossing the 90,000 mark.
This year also sees a tough competition in sports and ECA category as over 18,000 aspirants are now applied for 2,700 seats while there were 16,000 plus applications last year.
Among the reserved category, candidates from the OBC section are the highest applications which is close to 50,000 this year.
The Delhi University will now send the admission data to the colleges and the colleges will work out the cutoff for the first list. The first cutoff list is going to be issued on June 30 at 9 am. The admissions for the first list will also commence on the same date.
