DTET, Odisha to award university status to CET and IGIT colleges

DTET, Odisha to award varsity status to CET & IGIT

The Department of Technical Education and Training (DTET), Odisha has formed a 4 member committee to award university status to College of Engineering and Technology (CET), Bhubaneswar and Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT), Sarang.

The committee members will visit these colleges to verify the eligibility requirements for fulfilling the rules and regulations formed by the AICTE and UGC to grant varsity status.

The committee, led by the vice chancellor of Vir Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) as the chairman, has the Director, Technical Education and Training (DTET) and Prof LN Panda, head of the department of Mechanical Engineering of CET as members while the CET chairman is the convener.

These colleges will be verified under the different parameters to accord varsity status like; college infrastructure facilities, the faculty member, students strength, campus facilities and other required facilities for the university.

This committee will submit the report within 3 months. The DTET will take the further steps to accord university status.
