"This workshop will help to identify key barriers and opportunities for expanding the use of clean energy in the country. By addressing these barriers and leveraging these opportunities, the workshop can facilitate the development and implementation of innovative solutions that can accelerate the growth of renewable energy in India." Prof A Seshadri Sekhar, director, IIT Palakkad said.

Prof NP Padhy, director, of Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur that is hosting the workshop said, "The workshop focusing on green energy is a critical step towards achieving the national target of 500 GW renewable capacity by 2030. By bringing together experts, stakeholders, and policymakers in the field of green energy, the workshop can help identify opportunities and challenges in the renewable energy sector, explore innovative technologies and financing models, and develop effective policies and regulations to support the growth of renewable energy. Such collaborations can help accelerate the deployment of renewable energy solutions, reduce carbon emissions, improve energy security, and create new job opportunities in the clean energy sector,"

A sector-driven green-powered client workshop will be held as part of this event, concentrating on topics such as 'Novel Renewable Energy- Technologies and Components, Grid Integration of Renewables and Energy Storage, System-flexibility: Operation, Planning, and Markets,' to name a couple of them. The need for convenience cooling is predicted to propel the total stock of room air conditioners in India to more than 1 billion by 2050, a 40-fold increase. Following the World Economic Forum, it is estimated to account for approximately 25% of worldwide emissions from room air conditioners.

The DST intends to create a national strategy for power system research and development in the intelligent grid area to match India's national policies with the projected clean energy targets. The 'Clean Energy Research Initiative (CERI) of the DST funds research and development in the field of habitat energy efficiency. The programme encourages R&D activities aimed at enhancing the energy effectiveness of buildings and towns.
