The Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today i.e. March 30 launched career driven 1 lakh internship opportunities through the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) portal. The AICTE 1 Lakh Internship gateway will enhance the employability skills of students in technical as well as non-technical fields across diverse domains and sectors.
Launching the 1 lakh AICTE internship initiative Dharmendra Pradhan tweeted, "Happy to have launched over 1 lakh internship opportunities for the youth through the @AICTE_INDIA internship portal. Compliment @Cisco, @salesforce, @MGNCRE and RSB Transmission India Ltd. for this effort towards improving the employability of young India."
Terming the launch of 1 lakh AICTE internship opportunities as a welcome beginning, the education minister called upon the academic institutions and industries to provide internship opportunities to all to make the Indian youth future-ready.
Mr. Pradhan asked AICTE to find more ways to link the internship ecosystem with academic bank of credit and widen the net of internships to make internship and apprenticeship opportunities available for all age groups.
While lauding the Industry for recognising the need for apprenticeship, skilling and re-skilling, Dharmendra Pradhan called upon them to further diversify their internship opportunities, including in humanities and new emerging technologies in order to provide 100 million internship opportunities in the next 2-3 years for boosting employability of youth and building a more productive economy.

The 1 lakh internship opportunities through AICTE are being offered by various corporate, public as well as private enterprises comprising Salesforce, CISCO, Mahatma Gandhi National Council for Rural Education (MGNCRE), and RSB Transmission India Limited who will provide real-time employment opportunities to increase the skillability and employability of students.The initiative of providing 1 lakh internship opportunities is the highest priority of the Ministry of Education.
The AICTE 1 Lakh Internship Opportunities will have a wider scope and areas covering cybersecurity, networking, process engineering, hands-on boot camps, rural management, programming, etc. to provide enhanced employment opportunities to students across India.
The AICTE 1 Lakh Internship opportunities will be available for both technical as well as non-tech and higher education students who are pursuing their studies under the University Grants Commission (UGC).
47897 Industries are registered with AICTE and have posted internships totaling around 15.1 lakh with 1 crore+ students having registered thus far.
