Delhi University to Launch Twinning Degree Program for Global Education Exposure

Delhi University is on the brink of introducing a groundbreaking educational initiative that will open doors for its students to experience global learning like never before. The university is set to launch a twinning degree arrangement, offering students from the first batch of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP), under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, an extraordinary opportunity to spend a semester at a foreign institution. This innovative move seeks to enrich the university's curriculum, ensuring its students gain international exposure and a broader, more diversified perspective on their studies.

Delhi University to Launch Twinning Degree Program

The initiative is awaiting final approval, with a committee having already submitted its recommendations. Once approved, the program will allow undergraduate students, starting with those enrolled from the 2022-23 academic year, to study at select Foreign Higher Educational Institutions (FHEIs) during their third, fifth, or seventh semesters. This flexibility ensures that students at various stages of their undergraduate journey can take part in this international opportunity, with final-year students primarily benefiting from a semester abroad in their seventh semester.

Partnerships with Prestigious Foreign Universities

To ensure the success of this initiative, Delhi University's International Relations Office will lead the charge in establishing partnerships with top-tier foreign universities. These collaborations will involve aligning curricula, negotiating course fees, and making logistical arrangements, such as medical insurance and student accommodations. The university will also provide detailed guidance on its website to help students navigate this unique opportunity and make informed decisions about studying abroad.

Earning Credits While Gaining Global Exposure

Students participating in the program will have the chance to earn between 12 and 26 credits during their semester abroad, which will count toward their degree from Delhi University. This seamless integration of foreign academic experiences into their degree structure ensures that students do not miss out on the core aspects of their education. Beyond academics, this program aims to cultivate a global mindset, preparing students to navigate the complexities of an interconnected world.

In line with its commitment to social equity, Delhi University will offer this opportunity to academically meritorious students from economically weaker sections, ensuring they, too, can gain international exposure. The university plans to identify and support one or two such students each year, further reinforcing its commitment to inclusive education.

Rigorous Standards for Partnering Foreign Institutions

To ensure that students receive a high-quality education abroad, an academic expert committee will vet foreign universities wishing to participate in the program. Only those with a comparable or superior global ranking-such as those listed in the QS World Rankings or Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings-will be eligible. This rigorous selection process guarantees that Delhi University students will receive an education that complements or surpasses their home institution's offerings.
