Delhi University News: The Vice Chancellor of Delhi University Prof. Yogesh Tyagi has been placed under suspension on orders of President Ram Nath Kovind over allegations of misconduct and dereliction of duty, according to officials in Ministry of Education.
Issuing a statement concerning the issue, the Ministry of Education said, "The Hon'ble President of India in his capacity as Visitor of the University, on consideration of facts and material available on record has ordered to conduct an inquiry into the allegations of dereliction of duties and lack of commitment and devotion to duty against Prof. Yogesh Tyagi."

The suspension of Delhi University VC comes amid an ongoing row over recent administrative appointments by Prof. Yogesh Tyagi in violation of the varsity norms resulting in a tussle between two factions of the university.
However, as per the latest Presidential order, all directives issued by or issued with the approval of the now suspended Delhi University Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Tyagi are set aside and treated as null and void.

The suspended Delhi University VC has been on leave for medical reasons since July 2 with government appointing P C Joshi as incharge VC on July 17 until Prof. Yogesh Tyagi resumes office.
However, the controversy erupted last week over the appointment of registrars, pro-VC and directors of South Campus by Prof. Tyagi.
