The premier Delhi University (DU) is mulling over the introduction of online admissions for undergraduate (UG). If the plan is executed the online admission process shall be held for the academic session 2015-16
A committee of 23 members has been set up by the varsity to formulate admission policies. The application process for postgraduate (PG) courses has already been made online.
Delhi University had introduced the online centralized registration forms during 2012-2013 and continued with the offline centralized OMR registration forms as well.
However, the final decision will be taken after considering the recommendations made by the committee.
Delhi University is also expected to initiate other changes as a result of the proposed Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).
The committee members will also discuss the common eligibility criteria for admissions.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has requested DU authorities for swift action on the implementation of CBCS as well as the Credit Framework for Skill Development (CFSD) from the 2015 academic session.
The officials of DU and affiliated colleges are included in the admission committee.
The admissions of Delhi University are expected to start from May, 2015. Every year, the university admits around 54,000 UG students in different courses in affiliated colleges.
The centralized online application process for admission into PG courses for the 2015-16 academic session has already kicked off. PG admissions are being conducted from April 1 to April 30, 2015.
