Delhi University has announced a fee hike for new students in undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs starting from the 2024-2025 academic session. Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh approved the new fee structure in June, which will take effect in August.

The fees for the five-year Integrated Law Programmes have been increased by 5%, from Rs 1.90 lakh to Rs 1.99 lakh. Additionally, the four-year Integrated Teachers Education Programme (ITEP), which replaced B.EL.ED under the Faculty of Education, now costs Rs 57,400.
PhD students will see a significant increase in their fees, with a 60.22% hike resulting in a new fee of Rs 7,130 compared to the previous Rs 4,450.
Foreign students seeking admission will also face higher fees across various programmes. However, there is a reduction for those enrolling in MA Hindu Studies; students from SAARC countries will pay Rs 50,000 instead of Rs 1 lakh, and non-SAARC country students will pay Rs 1 lakh instead of Rs 2 lakh.
Tibetan applicants are exempted from paying university registration fees and additional fees payable to colleges and departments as foreign students.
The university has revised several components of its fee structure, including tuition fees, student welfare funds, development fees, facilities and services charges, and support funds for economically weaker sections.
The contribution share for the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) has been removed from some departments' fee structures but increased from Rs 20 to Rs 40 for other undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The DUSU contribution has also been removed from the LLB and MBA fee structures.
Haneet Gandhi, DU Dean Admissions, confirmed that foreign nationals seeking admission would face higher fees across various programmes at Delhi University.
Conclusion
This comprehensive revision aims to address various financial needs while ensuring quality education and facilities for all students at Delhi University. The fee adjustments reflect the university's commitment to maintaining high educational standards and providing enhanced services and support to its diverse student body.
